SAME DAY UPDATE: I've discovered many other Mac users experiencing the same issue. It appears that Apple will replace the problematic part. Score! Like waking up from a bad dream, second chances are the best. I am still getting the case for better preservation. Check out this smoking hot red version. ZEXY! It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

In a world full of mass produced identical products, we're always searching for new ways to express ourselves. It is common knowledge that Apple’s online store offers to engrave their products with a short text message. For an even cooler way to mark your turf, check out Engrave! This Portland based company customizes personal electronics in a much more creative way. They use laser engraving and the end result is AH-MAZING. They can even permanently etch in your own designs if you supply them with a vector drawing.
There's been a lot of loud belly-aching over the marketplace implications of the $0.99 price point's popularity in Apple's iPhone App Store. Well, Mobile Orchard blew all that out of the water yesterday. Check out the sales distribution of iPhone Apps sorted by price:

Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories has cooked up a delicious double entendre for your viewing pleasure and they didn't skimp on the photos. The secret ingredient? A 45 watt carbon-dioxide laser they used to cut a perfect Apple lattice in the top crust. (And love, of course.)

Best Buy and MacMall just rolled out their Black Friday deals, and there are no Apple product updates scheduled for the rest of the year. The best deals on this chart are highlighted in bold.

Osram Sylvania (Warning: 2000-era web design) and Philips will be introducing some Buck Rodgers-esque bulbs over the next year. They're going to start trying to sell us on color-correct super-high efficiency LED bulbs that last longer and use less electricity. Sounds good but there's a catch. At least, according to New York Times' Tech writer Eric A Taub. He thinks they'll be a tough sell because they look weird.
But they're going to fly off of shelves...
Q: Why is there a 6 month waiting list for the Toyota Prius while Honda discontinued it's Hybrid Accord in 2007?
A: It's because when people are buying the tech of the future they want it to look like it's from the dang future. The Prius looks like a cross between a Mac Pro and a boxfish. The Hybrid Accords look like all the other Accords we've been looking at for years.
I'd buy myself this little piece of the future right now, if I could. When it does come out, I'll be first in line. And I'll bet a lot of other people who grew up reading S.F. comics, looking at concept cars and playing with imaginary light-sabers will too.

It took 18 hours and 4 phone calls to technical support for me to activate my G1 in the UK. However, once the device was finally working, I needed just a few minutes to conclude Google and T-Mobile have missed a huge opportunity to demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving the mobile user experience.
...it's kinda downhill from there. Ouch.

Reports of the Mac Mini's death are greatly exaggerated...
- The Mac Mini is #1 and #6 in Apple's "Best Selling Desktops" at Amazon.com.
- It is also #16 over all in the ultra competitve "Best Sellers in Computer & PC Hardware."
Don't miss this ~5 minute doc on the art of Letterpress.
"It will die. Eventually. Because people will forget how to do it."
"How do you feel about that?"
"It's OK, I'm only responsible for my watch."
The Linotype machine is mesmerizing. The 3rd dimension that Letterpress adds to typography can't be beat.

This is from the official marketing material posted last night by RIM's Storm launch partner, Vodafone. It's an interesting tactic. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but when you're trying to take on a competitor whose main strength is slick, thoughtful products with amazing launches (Mobile Me aside), EPIC FAIL at product launch, may not be the best strategy...
